"Certain things they should stay the way they are. You ought to be able to stick them in one of those big glass cases and just leave them alone. I know that's impossible, but it's too bad anyway."

I really like this quote because it shows us how Holden thinks.  He likes remembering the nostalgia of when he was younger and how he wants that for his sister as well.  Everyone like remembering some part of their childhood and I think its says a lot about Holden to see that he liked how he grew and changed but their were some things that never change and that you wouldn't want them to because they were such a part of you by that time.

  1. It's true that this quote shows us an insight into Holden's mind. I think that the instinct to keep childhood things sacred is very human, it is very important to a lot of people to have memories be unmarred. Nostalgia is a very strong force. I think that another thing Holden is trying to preserve is his relationship with Jane, which is why he's been talking about her so much but has yet to contact her.

  2. I think you pretty much say how Holden feels as he reminisces about visiting this museum as a kid. I think a part of him is really nostalgic about his past, and he almost refers to it longingly. But we also see him constantly trying to get away from where he is, never really happy with the situation he's in.
